Indrashil University Proposal Dholera, Gujarat
The site for the proposed University is located around 80 kms south west of city of Ahmedabad, and is in proximity of Dholera Special Investment Region (Dholera SIR), which is being developed by Government of Gujarat.
The approximate distance of the site from Dholera SIR is 15 kms. The site is adjoining Pipali–Fedara Highway and has around 100 mt. wide entry from the Highway to the Northern part of the site.
Final proposal integrates various conceptual strategies. It addresses ideas of integrating blue and green, responding to Sun and the Wind while having a multi nodal modular campus.
To utilize the non-developable land under HT lines, and to facilitate efficient storm water management, it is suggested that large land be developed as University Forest, promoting wilderness and development of lakes.
To create a strong imagery of the landscape, promote walking and to address water management, a linear network of green and open spaces is proposed to be developed through out the campus. The networks connects the north and the south edges of the campus while passing through the University Forest.
The proposed road network is essentially in form of loops with cul-de-sacs connected through pedestrian pathways.
This network will help in segregation of vehicular and pedestrian traffic while facilitating development of clearly formulated land parcels for various zones.
As part of the concept of developing multi nodal campus, the academic is kept as a distinct node at one end of the campus.
The residential zone comprising Student Hostels and Staff Residence are located in the centre of the University with Academic and Research zones.
