The Daman Ganga River originates in the Sahyadri Hills and flows through Silvassa in Dadra and Nagar Haveli, a Union Territory located along the borders of Gujarat and Maharashtra. The riverbed is characterised by exposed basalt rock, while the relatively sparse green cover makes the river edge difficult to access and engage with. The approximately 2 km-long riverfront presented an opportunity to transform this edge into a continuous public space while strengthening its relationship with the surrounding natural and cultural landscape.

DPC's approach to public spaces is centred on connecting people, place, and environment. For the Daman Ganga Riverfront, this vision translated into creating seamless access to the water and a vibrant public realm offering a variety of experiences while supporting tourism.

The Master Plan integrated pedestrian and vehicular movement, landscape, water access, and activity spaces across different zones. The levels in the design responded to seasonal water-level changes, while walkways, theme-based plazas, and river-interface spaces created varied experiences along the waterfront. Key destinations included the Plaza of Light, Performance Plaza, Entry Plaza, Ghat, and Visarjan Kund, along with a nature trail through the existing forest and a walk-over-water pedestrian bridge offering a unique vantage point across the river. A new crematorium was also integrated into the riverfront development. Together, these interventions created a continuous public realm connecting people with the river and its surrounding landscape.
